The UGLY Truth

Writer: Mommin It Like A BossMommin It Like A Boss

Warning all readers beware there may be TMI spilled in this blog. If you choose to read on your have been warned. Today on this fabulous Thursday I’m going to spill the ugly truth after a postpartum C-section. Men if you made it this far feel free to read on. This will only educate you and help you empathize if a woman you know has been through this. What inspired me to add this to my blog? The fact that I‘m presently going through it. To set the record straight I did EVERYTHING in my power pre birth to avoid a cesarian with the twins. God of course had other plans which is what was best for the girls and myself. I was soooo scared, didn’t want one and was in complete denial that I was going to have one. Even though the girls were breeched the whole time toward the end. It’s considered a major surgery and it definitely is one. After my water broke, that was the only option for us. So I had no choice in the matter. Luckily I had done some research so I knew what to expect going in but was still in denial. I’m in the surgery room, bent over with a pill between my chest and knees. I can’t bare to look at the needle. I just ask them to stick it in my back after they count. There’s really no turning back at all. I will say the surgery over all went well and I didn’t feel much pain. They pulled the girls out and my husband unfortunately almost fainted because he saw my insides. I did throw up after because of the anesthesia. But the overall initial experience wasn’t bad. The worst part was yet to come. We all know when that is... When the medicine started to wear off. Even then as long as I stayed consistent with the pain medication the hospital provided it wasn’t that bad. I would have to say the worst part was being discharged and having to move around to take care of my responsibilities at home. On top of that lack of sleep and getting Mastitis. What is that? That is when a women’s breast get infected from breastfeeding, due to being over engorged. You feel like you have the flu and imagine having stitches in your lower stomach while feeling like that. Our bodies are so strong, God truly took his time on us that’s for sure. Well ladies let’s just say for the first month no major workouts. You are out of commission. Which you probably don’t and won’t want to anyways. My incision took a good 2 & a half months to heal maybe longer. You completely lose you lower stomach muscles. Last but not least the real UGLY truth. For me I havent fully healed yet and it’s almost been a year. Once a month during that time my incision is tender and I get sharp pains that feel like I’m getting stabbed in the lower stomach. I guess my cramps are more intensified due to the incision. I told my husband I feel like the battle of Sparta is going on in my uterus. lol On that note this is probably TMI, so I should stop before I say anymore. Thanks for reading The UGLY truth! Until next time have a blessed day. #momminitlikeaboss
